Bystander or Participant?

There is something important we can learn from the story of Zacchaeus — he only wanted to see Jesus. He just wanted to watch. He wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Although he was a rich and influential man, he wasn’t popular or well-liked. I imagine that he didn’t expect Jesus would be too interested in getting to know him, others weren’t, but it didn’t change the fact that he wanted to see Jesus or that Jesus had a different idea.
